Sorry for your confusion. First, my staff is instructed by me to get your medical insurance information as well. We do this because some eye issues and systemic conditions (Dry eye, pink eye, diabetes, hypertension) basically anything outside of routine eye care is not covered by your vision plan but is by your medical plan. And yes we do scan it into your records, it's not VSP's policy, it's mine. I do this because because I need proof should a claim be denied, a check bounce or a bill go unpaid.

Went in for first appointment. Had already given all the personal and pertinent information on line i.e. Name, DOB, SSN, Address, Phone, email, and DL number. We have VSP insurance, the receptionist asked for my card, VSP never gives cards, your member ID is SSN. She asked for my medical insurance, I told her that was not necessary as I have no vision benefits on medical. She asked for my ID, I gave but let her know I didnt want it scanned or copied as there was no need for that. She went to her manager, came back to me and said I wouldnt be able to have my appointment because I said no to copy of ID. I spoke with the manager who said that its theirs and VSPs policy to ensure identity. I said I have already given and shown all personal and pertinent information including my ID. She then said I can be self pay. I called VSP, filed formal complaint, and representative told me that its not their policy to have copies made or scanned of IDs. Representative stated they have asked offices just to look at IDs to ensure identity. So I was denied care due to a personal preference. I do know that doctors offices, hospitals ask for ID, but never scan, and especially did not deny care if a patient says no. We have that right not to have our picture taken, and physical IDs scanned or copied. Its unnecessary and has nothing, nothing to do with a vision exam.

I had a costly and a horrible customer service experience at this establishment-Alpine Visions. The whole process of getting an eye exam and ordering lenses took several weeks. When the lenses did come in, after a couple of weeks, they had to send them back to the lab because they were way off. I told them it was like looking through a magnifying glass, lots of distortion. They had me see Dr. Arbaugh again and he adjusted the prescription. So the second pair came in and I spent the whole day trying to make it work. It was better but there were still some distortion. Distraught, I finally had to go see another optometrist for a second opinion. And I had to spend for an eye exam over again. But I got the new pair of glasses just within a week and it worked! And it fit! Sad to say I had to fight Alpine Vision for a refund. Some of the staff I spoke with were condescending, especially one named Stacey, very defensive. I did get some of the money back. The whole ordeal was stressful and so time consuming.

Their new building (and staff!) is so warm and inviting. I went in for a full check-up because I lost my old glasses that were not helping too much anymore anyway. They were responsive to the fact that I never got used to my contacts (even offered to trade the leftover sets in) and helped me find the perfect pair of glasses that actually fit my face. She also gave me great deal on a polarized prescription retrofit for my favorite sunglasses. They are tech savvy too and send discreet messages when it's time to come back in or when my glasses are ready. Also loved the little care package that came with them!

Office experience was great but only seven months after I got my glasses, they are extremely scratched and I paid extra for scratch resistant!! I've never had glasses this scratched.
